Reflections from the Front Lines in Gaza

Q: Why were you called up to Gaza? Isn’t the war over?
Kimberly Phillips
SaltLake City, Utah

A: As we sit here in the scorching heat of Gaza, terrorized by the flies whose persistence and tenacity is nothing short of inspiring, we find ourselves asking this very question. At face value, it is clear that the war is far from over. If anything, the majority of Israeli’s recognize that while the battle in Southern Lebanon may have ended for now, the war with Hezbollah and the Muslim world is still to come. As to why we are here, the Arabs of Gaza are escalating their Jihad against Israel, and being that the army is still recoiling from the events of last month, they have decided to mobilize more soldiers to compensate.

Searching for meaning in the Holocaust

Q: What lesson should the Jewish People in the world learn from the Holocaust?
- Terri Price, Oklahoma City

Answer: Many well intentioned people attempt to categorize the Holocaust as the genocide of another oppressed minority and relegate the lesson to one of tolerance and mutual understanding. Museums, memorials, and foundations have all been dedicated to this concept of “tolerance” thereby blurring the fundamental differences between Anti-Semitism and other hatreds. The Holocaust was not just another genocide. There is no argument that our world is in dire need of more tolerance, however labeling the Holocaust as the mere product of bigotry is a manifestation of moral ambiguity and a lack of understanding of the essence of the Jewish Nation.

Biblical Zionism

The world is in the midst of a revolution. We are young American-born Jews living in Israel who have dedicated the last two years of our lives to spreading the beauty, depth, and dimension of Judaism and Israel to the world. We have been speaking to Jews in their synagogues on Saturdays and to Christians in their churches on Sundays, seeking to strengthen the emotional and spiritual connection of people around the world to the Land of Israel. There is a new brotherhood growing – one that is unprecedented in world history. A unity is being formed between the Jewish and Christian worlds anchored in common beliefs, shared values, and a love for Israel and her people.
